Elizabeth Olsen admits that she found it difficult to leave the character and difficult subject matter of Martha Marcy May Marlene behind during takes.

The actress is causing quite a stir with her latest performance in the Sean Durkin directed movie - which played at the London Film Festival.

But because filming was so quick she admits it was a struggle not to stay in the moment and with the character in between shooting takes and scenes.

Speaking to The Press Association the actress said: "During the day between scenes was a little bit more difficult than going home at night.

"Going home at night was always easy, you just take a shower, go to bed, that's that.

"In between scenes if we were moving from one scene to the next, because we had very little money and very little time we would film about five, at most six pages a day and so you'd try and only be present for that and then skip to the next."

Martha Marcy May Marlene is only the second feature film for Olsen but it looks set to be her breakthrough performance.

Martha Marcy May Marlene is released 3rd February 2012.
