George Clooney

George Clooney has revealed that while he enjoys directing movies acting is still his 'day job'.

The actor is returning to the big screen with his new movie Ides of March, a project he stars in, directs as well as penned - the movie also stars Ryan Gosling.

It's the first directorial outing for the Oscar winner since Leatherheads and his first acting role since The American last year.

Speaking to The Press Association the actor said: "My career path for the last 10 years or so has been to direct, but directing takes a long time to get one done, it can take a while.

"So my day job is acting, that's how I make my living and directing is what I really want to do and what I really enjoy doing.

"In between those, if I'm lucky to have Alexander or Steven Soderbergh or the Coen brothers or Jason Reitman or Tony Gilroy or really good directors around, then I'm lucky, and that's what I want to do."

And we are going to be seeing plenty of George over the next few months as The Descendants is also due for release while Gravity is in post production.

The Ides of March is released 28th October.
