Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Harry Potter has stayed at the top of the UK box office for the third consecutive weeks at number one.

The film took a further £3.7 million this weekend and has now grossed £39.1 million in the UK alone in the last three weeks.

Megamind, who would have topped the box office in the absence of Harry Potter, had to settle for second and was this week’s highest new entry.

The movie brings together a great voice cast of Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt, Tina Fey and Jonah Hill and follows the supervillain Megamind finally who conquers his nemesis, the hero Metro Man... but finds his life pointless without a hero to fight.

Unstoppable, which reunites Tony Scott with Oscar winner Denzel Washington, dropped just a single place from two to three while comedy Due Date stayed at number four.

Monsters, which is being touted as the must see sci-fi movie of the year, was a new entry at number five and sees director Gareth Edwards make his feature length debut.

The American was down a single place to number six while London Boulevard was this week’s biggest faller as it dropped four places from three to number seven.

Despicable Me was also down as it dropped two places as did The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets Nest, the third and final instalment of the Millenium Trilogy.
