Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince still reigns over the UK box office grossing a further £5.1 million this weekend.

And the sixth movie in the Harry Potter franchise is the biggest movie in the UK of 2009 taking over £30 million in the fortnight it's been in cinemas, overtaking Slumdog Millionaire.

After major success at the US box office Sandra Bullock's The Proposal opened at number two. With £3.2 million it's the best opening for a Bullock movie in the UK.

Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs fell one place to number three, bringing it's UK gross to £25 million.

Bruno was a four while The Hangover, the surprise hit of the summer, dropped two places to round off the top five.

It seems that controversy is the way to success as the only other new entry inside the top ten this week was Anti Christ.

Lars von Trier's new film, which stars Willem Defoe and Charlotte Gainsbourg, opened at number ten.
