Heath Ledger

Heath Ledger

Footage of Heath Ledger as The Joker will not be used in the new Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises.

The star won a posthumous Best Supporting Oscar for his performance as The Joker in the Dark Knight in 2008 but there had been rumours that cut footage from the movie could be used in the new instalment.

However director Christopher Nolan's producer and wife Emma has shot down those whispers. She told Heat Vision Blog: "I heard the rumour, we're not doing that."

The Dark Knight Rises looks set to be the final Batman for the filmmaker as he returns to the directors chair and Christian Bale reprises the role of Bruce Wayne.

The script for the movie is yet unfinished but it's widely believed that tom Hardy will play the villain while Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman are all expected to return.

The movie is expected to hit cinemas in 2012, which will be four years after The Dark Knight; which took over $1 billion at the box office.
