Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith

Jaden Smith admits that his first onscreen kiss was very uncomfortable.

The eleven year old actor takes the lead role in the remake of eighties classic movie The Karate Kid, in which he stars alongside Jackie Chan.

But in his first lead role Jaden had to kiss his co-star, while his producer parents were on the set.

He told Entertainment Tonight: "We had security keep my mum in the tent so she wouldn't come out acting crazy - my mum stayed in the tent, but my dad was on the set, and that was very awkward.

"That was one of the most awkward things I've ever done in my 11 years of being on this planet."

And while that scene was just a little bit uncomfortable the young actor admits that he liked having his parents on set during the shoot.

"It was fun working with your parents - they're there when you really need them but they're also there when you want them to leave. And they were there for the kiss.

While The karate Kid is Jaden's first big lead role he is no stranger to the big screen having landed roles in The Pursuit of Happiness and The Day The Earth Stood Still in recent years.

The Karate Kid is released 16th July.
