Jason Flemyng has hinted that an X-Men: First Class sequel could be on the way.

The actor took on the role of Azazel in the summer blockbuster - a movie that was a hit both at the box office and with critics.

And the actor suggests that a sequel to the movie could possible be on the horizon.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "There was a benchmark that they had to hit box office-wise before they could start writing the next one, which they've started.

"We'll just see how the DVD goes and then fingers crossed I'll be bright red again by next summer."

And Flemyng is looking forward to working alongside Michael Fassbender, who took on the role of Magneto, once again.

"I think Michael Fassbender can do anything, annoyingly, with very little sleep and not much work, which is even more annoying!" he said.

"I am so in his gang [for the sequel]. There's one shot at the end of the film [with Magneto] and I was like, 'Please let me be in the shot!' And there I was. If there is a sequel, I have to be there."

Flemyng will be back on the big screen in the New Year in Wild Bill, which is the directorial debut for Dexter Fletcher, and he has also completed work on Lost Christmas and Great Expectations.
