Jeremy Renner has revealed that it being cast in Mission Impossible IV is a dream.

Since starring in Kathryn Bigelow's The Hurt Locker, for which he was Oscar nominated, Renner has become one of the hottest properties in Hollywood.

And the hits keep on coming as Renner is all set to take on the role of Brandt alongside Tom Cruise in the fourth Mission Impossible film, which will be directed by Brad Bird.

In an interview with Access Hollywood he said: "It's great fun getting to run around with Tom and learn all these fantastic moves," he said. "It's like 14-year-old boys' dreams."

Renner has been tipped to take over the franchise from Cruise and while he admits that that would be exciting he was unsure whether that would ever happen.

"That's obviously really exciting, but I don't know. I'd love for that to happen, but I can't talk about it - it's so far in the future."

"I'm going to do the task at hand, do the best I can and then on to the next. But the idea of it is fantastic."

And it's going to be a few months for the actor as he will also take on the role of Hawkeye in The Avengers so he is preparing to get in shape for both roles.

"Lucky enough, I get to do Mission: Impossible [IV] before [The Avengers] so I get to get in pretty decent shape.

"I'll still probably have to workout a bit to be superhero-esque and not the lazy couch potato that I feel like I am.
