Johnny Depp believes that Captain Jack Sparrow is destined never to find love.
The Oscar nominated actor reprises his most famous role this week for the fourth instalment of the franchise Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
And while Jack meets a mysterious woman from his past, played by the lovely Penelope Cruz, Depp believes that Jack couldn't cope with falling in love.
Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "I think if we did a scenario where it was Captain Jack really falling in love, it would most likely be a silent film.
"I think he would go completely catatonic and be unable to speak. He would probably sit there and quiver for an hour and a half.
"It would mess up the legend. Which I think is always working for it, to leave the legend behind."
The movie reunites Depp with Cruz for the first time since they starred together in Blow. And the actor had nothing but praise for Cruz.
"She's one of the greatest gifts you could get. She's so fiery and has such spirit and such talent.
"Also, besides that, she's a great friend. She's so funny and so capable of anything."
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is out now.
