Julia Roberts has revealed that a movie has to be special for her to leave her children at home and go to work.

The Oscar winning actress has described her latest movie Eat Pray Love as ‘epic’ and this is the reason why she decided to take on the project.

Speaking to Showbiz Spy Roberts said: "I knew this project would be a huge undertaking, but I just feel that for me to leave home now that I’m a mother and go to work on something it really has to be epic. And this is epic!

"It’s just a feeling I have the first time I read something. I just like it or I don’t. I turn the last page and I know whether I want to do it or not."

Talking about her film Roberts said: "It’s based on a beautiful book, a great multi-layered story of a woman of a certain age going through problems a lot of people can relate to.

"What she does is difficult, though ultimately liberating, and I think we all wish that one day we would feel a certain way about ourselves and really do something about it."

Roberts has already topped the box office this year as she joined the ensemble cast of Valentine’s Day back in February, a movie that reunited her with Pretty Woman filmmaker Garry Marshall.

She has also completed work on Larry Crowne, which is directed by and also star Tom Hanks.
