Julianne Moore has revealed that she chooses movie roles that don't take her away from her family.

Moore's latest movie sees her team up with Colin Firth in the Tom Ford directed movie A Single Man.

In an interview with Contactmusic the actress said: "My family life is incredibly important to me. I want to be with them as much as I can.

"I try to work in New York, or I work in the summer time when my family can come with me.

"The days of me doing a big film where I need to be away for months during the school year are over."

"It doesn't seem to affect the roles I get. That's the reality of my life so I don't think about it too much."

For her performance in the film she was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe, but missed out on an Oscar nod.

She has plenty in the pipeline this year with Chloe, in which she stars with Liam Neeson and Amanda Seyfried, is due out next month.

The Kids Are All Right is out later this year and she is due to begin work on Boone's Lick.
