Juliette Binoche believes that you have to take risks as an actress.
The Oscar winner claims that she has never struggled to land the interesting movie parts because she has always been keen to test herself and try something different.
Speaking to ContactMusic she said: "You have to create your life, and go to directors you love, and go with unexpected risk and stories - it's that or write yourself, you cannot always blame others.
"I've never felt the lack of good roles at my age. I went to see directors who understand, who want to shoot human beings and not ideas of women.
"I think that we are all creative and we have to take possibilities."
Binoche is in Cannes this week to promote her latest movie Certified Copy, which sees her working with filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami.
Throughout her career the actress has mixed her English speaking roles with French film. She has Son of No One, Sponsoring and Relative Insanity in the pipeline.
