Keira Knightley reveals that she has always been a fan of the thriller genre and that is one of the reasons that she took on the Jack Ryan project.
The actress is currently filming the Jack Ryan movie as she teams up with leading man Chris Pine and director Kenneth Branagh.
She will take on the role of Cathy Ryan in the film which has already shot in New York.
Speaking to Collider the actress said: "I thought, ‘I think I’d quite like to do something that’s just entertainment’ not just entertainment, but entertainment in that kind of Hollywood sort of run-around, explosions [vein].
"I’ve always loved thrillers; thrillers are incredibly difficult to do which is why there’s so few of them made now, and [the Jack Ryan films] have always been really good thrillers, so I sort of fancied that."
Knightley is currently having praise heaped upon her for her performance in her latest movie Anna Karenina - she is one of the early Oscar contenders.
She has mixed and matched her roles this year moving from A Dangerous Method to Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World to the Leo Tolstoy adaptation.
The Jack Ryan project will be released December 2013.
