Kristen Stewart says that she is glad that she was able to see the Twilight story through to the end.

The actress plays Bella Swan for the last time this autumn with the release of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, the final instalment of the hugely popular franchise.

And Stewart says that she has enjoyed that she has been able to tell the story from beginning to end.

Speaking to The Press Association the actress said: "The reason you start a project is to finish it - you want the story out so you can breathe by the time you finish something.

"This is just extended, intense and really indulgent, and I needed to see it through to the end. I would have gone nuts if we couldn't finish the story," she said.

And Stewart is pleased that she was able to fit other movie projects in around her commitments to Twilight but she admits that she never went out of her way to take on really different roles.

"I did a movie in between every Twilight movie, and they were all really different and challenging. I had no desire to prove to people that I could do different stuff," she continued.

"I just got lucky and got different jobs. I was also able to switch it up. I feel like it's really nice to look back on it but I'm also relieved that the story has finally been told."

She is back on the big screen this week with her new movie Snow White and the Huntsman in which she plays Snow White like we have never seen her before.
