Leonard Nimoy has admitted that he probably won't reprise his role as Spock in the next Star Trek movie.

The popular actor appeared in the reboot of the Star Trek franchise back in May in his most famous role alongside Zachary Quinto, who was playing a younger version of the character Spock.

In an interview with Movieweb the actor said: "I don't think there is room for me to return in a sequel. I don't think they need me.

"I am happy to see Zachary [Quinto] continue on with the role. I don't believe a second film would benefit from me being a part of it.

"If J.J. asked me to come back, I would consider it. But I don't think it is necessary, nor do I think that is part of J.J.'s plan."

Directed By J.J. Abrams, the man behind Lost and Alias, Star Trek when back to the beginning of the Starship enterprise and it's young crew and followed them on their maiden voyage.

The movie was a huge critical success and kicked off the blockbuster summer. It went on to gross over $384 million and a sequel is likely to go ahead.
