Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio has revealed that he didn't feel himself after the success of Titanic.

The actor shot to fame overnight after the box office success of Titanic, which went on to scoop Best Picture at the Oscars.

In an interview with Esquire the actor said: "It wasn't the era of penetrating internet paparazzi that we have now. But I wasn't me anymore. I was sort of this thing.

"Kate [Winslet] felt it too. But a lot of the attention was on me because of the teenage girls who repeatedly went to see the movie. I had the blond hair and I was Jack Dawson, this heroic figure."

However it's DiCaprio's partnership with director Martin Scorsese that has seen him establish himself as a serious actor rather than a heartthrob.

Their first collaboration came in 2002 with Gangs of New York. But it was The Aviator that brought DiCaprio his first Best Actor Oscar nomination of the partnership.

The Departed has been the most successful film for the pair as it went on to scoop Best Picture and Best Director for Scorsese.

Next month sees then team up for a fourth time on psychological thriller Shutter Island.

Shutter Island is released 12th March.
