Martin Freeman has revealed that he feels comfortable in the role of Bilbo Baggins and he isn't really feeling the pressure.

The British actor takes over the role of Bilbo as Peter Jackson returns to Middle Earth for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - the first of two movies.

And while this movie is set to be one of the biggest of 2011 the actor admits that he is not yet feeling the pressure.

Speaking to Total Film the actor said: "I honestly don't feel that pressure, no. I really, really don't.

"It is Bilbo's journey, but I didn't write it. I'm not directing it. It's not my film, It's Peter's film."

Filming is currently underway in New Zealand and the actor admits that they haven't go to any really heavy scenes just yet.

"The hardest thing is staying up and peppy when you're covered in snot or mud, day after day. I'm sure there's more to come.

"So far, what we've filmed has been more comic than heavy. I keep asking Peter, 'When are we going heavy?' He assures me it's coming."

The movie is set to be the biggest of Freeman's career to date and he will be joined on the cast list by Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis and Richard Armitage.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released 14th December.
