Mel Gibson

Mel Gibson is interested in a fifth Lethal Weapon movie.

According to Australian website What's Playing, Gibson has entered into talks with producer Joel Silver as he attempts to rebuild his career.

An insider said: "They’re talking again. Mel probably needs Joel, not to mention Lethal Weapon now more than ever, so I wouldn’t at all be surprised if it comes off this time.

"And it could be a good move, that’s a mighty big brand name - it probably would help Gibson, professionally-speaking."

Gibson returned to the big screen earlier this year in Edge of Darkness, his first movie since The Singing Detective back in 2003, although he had directed Passion Of The Christ and Apocalypto in that time.

However his career took another blow last month when tapes of him arguing with girlfriend, and mother of his child, Oksana Grigorieva.

He was set to work with Leonardo DiCaprio on a Viking movie but the actor has dropped out of the project since the troubles on Gibson's private life have become public.

Lethal Weapon has not graced the big screen since 1998, a movie that took over $285 million at the global box office.
