Michael Fassbender and Sir Ben Kingsley were among the stars feted at the Capri Hollywood International Film Festival, while silent movie The Artist was named Best Picture.

Fassbender was handed the Best Actor prize for his portrayal of a sex addict in Shame and Kingsley was honoured for his career achievements with the Italian festival's Legends award.

The Artist was among the big winners, scooping the event's coveted Film of the Year trophy, while its star Berenice Bejo was named Best Actress.

The festival, held in Capri, ran from 26 December (11) and concluded on Monday (02Jan12).

Fassbender has already picked up a Best Actor gong at the Venice Film Festival last year and he is nominated at the Golden Globes for his performance.

Shame sees Fassbender reunite with filmmaker Steve McQueen for the first time since Hunger.
