Queen Latifah is searching for the perfect sci-fi project to make her directorial debut - because she's a secret Star Trek fan.
The star, real name Dana Owens, has carved out a career for herself in Hollywood starring in and producing movies like upcoming romantic comedy Just Wright.
But she admits she's holding out on taking charge of her first project behind the camera until she finds the ideal futuristic film.
She tells WENN, "I would love to do sci-fi, I'm a Trekkie! Something in sci-fi, maybe a comic, graphic novel.
"Something visually creative - I don't know what though."
The actress has a busy 2010, and has already topped the box office as part of the ensemble cast of Valentine's Day.
She is also set to star in Just Wright, on which she also serves as producer, she has also been linked to Hairspray 2: White Lipstick.
