Robert Downey Jr

The Soloist co-stars Robert Downey, JR. and Jamie Foxx are to team up for a new road movie comedy with the brains behind 2009 summer hit The Hangover.

The Hangover star Zach Galifianakis and the film's director Todd Phillips are also onboard for Due Date.

In the film, Downey, Jr. plays an expectant father racing back to Los Angeles for the birth of his first child.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Foxx will play an old friend who helps Downey, Jr's character and his companion, Galifianakis, en route.

The pair teamed up for The Soloist, the latest movie by British filmmaker Joe Wright, the man behind Pride and Prejudice and Atonement.

Based on the real life story of Nathaniel Ayers the film follows a Los Angeles journalist befriends a homeless Julliard-trained musician, while looking for a new article for the paper.

The film has been received well by the critics and there is already Oscar talk surrounding the two central performances from Foxx and Downey Jr.

Due Date begins shooting later this year.
