Romola Garai Wants More Contemporary Roles

Romola Garai is looking to take on more contemporary projects.

The actress has taken on a whole host of period pieces over the last few years including Atonement and TV show The Hour.

Speaking to The Press Association the actress said: "A lot of the things I have done are period, which is pretty much talking. I do try and do more contemporary things," she added.

"The thing you want from a job is as much diversity as possible really. If you have the opportunity to control your career in any way, then you've won the jackpot.

"This is not a job with any control. I do what I think is interesting and what fits in with my life, and challenge and engage me no matter what medium it is."

2011 has seen her mix and match her TV & movie roles this year with shows The Hour and The Crimson Petal and the White and film One Day.

She has completed work on two short projects Whitelands and Babysitting and she has been linked to movie Muse.
