Russell Brand has revealed that he has been in talks to star in the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie.

The British funnyman had been linked to the role of Jack Sparrow's brother alongside Johnny Depp in the new movie but may have to decline the role.

In an interview with Access Hollywood he said: "There's been some talk of doing a Pirates movie."

"But, I've got eight other things to do [including] Get Him To The Greek with Judd Apatow... So I don't know if there'll be time to be a pirate, I've got enough of that in my private life."

Johnny Depp will reportedly pocket a staggering $59.2 million (£32 million) pay cheque for reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow in a fourth instalment of the Pirates Of The Caribbean franchise.

The big-money deal will make Hollywood history as the highest up-front payment ever - overshadowing the $53.65 million (£29 million) Tom Hanks was offered to star in the forthcoming The Da Vinci Code sequel, Angels and Demons.

The first three movies have grossed $2.7 billion at the global box office, with Dead Man's Chest joining just three other movies that have broken the $1 billion barrier.

However, it is unlikely Depp's co-stars Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will return to star in another sequel.
