Ryan Gosling has called his experience on The Mickey Mouse Club 'disheartening'.

The actor started out his career on the television show alongside Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera but soon found himself on the sidelines.

Speaking to Interview magazine the actor said: "It was kind of depressing because when I got there, they realised that I wasn't really up to snuff in comparison with what some of the other kids were able to do.

"I remember one time they put four of us in a dance routine, but I was so off. I was on the end, so they just pushed the shot in closer on the other three guys to frame me out.

"I would just come in at the beginning of the show and then come back at the end, and occasionally I'd have a sketch here or there, but I didn't end up working that much, which was disheartening."

And while Gosling's beginnnings may not have been so successful he has gone on to bag an Oscar nomination for Half Nelson and star in every girl's favourite weepy The Notebook.

He is back on the big screen later this year with his new movie All Good Things, which is inspired by the most notorious missing person’s case in New York history.
