Salt

Salt has brought an end to Inception's month reign at the top of the Australian box office

It's been two years since Angelina Jolie was on the big screen but she is back as CIA agent Evelyn Salt in the action packed movie that took $3.9 million at the box office over the weekend.

As a CIA officer, Evelyn Salt swore an oath to duty, honour and country. Her loyalty will be tested when a defector accuses her of being a Russian spy.

Salt goes on the run, using all her skills and years of experience as a covert operative to elude capture. Salt's efforts to prove her innocence only serve to cast doubt on her motives, as the hunt to uncover the truth behind her identity continues and the question remains: "Who is Salt?"

After four weeks at the top Inception fell just a single place to this week's number two as it took a further $1,8 million. There was also a one place drop for The Expendables, Step Up 3D and Scott Pilgrim vs the World ending the week at three, four and five.

The Ghost Writer also fell one place out of the top five to number six while Killer was one of the two biggest fallers this week. Katherine Heigl and Ashton Kutcher join forces for the action comedy but it dropped two place from five to seven.

Toy Story 3 was also down two from seven to nine. There was a second new entry inside the top ten this week as Matching Jack opened at number eight. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse rounded off the top ten at ten.
