Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks are set to join forces for the big screen adaptation of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.

The movie is all set to be directed by three time Oscar nominee Stephen Daldry and the script has been penned by Eric Roth.

The movie follows nine year old Oskar Schell who is an inventor, Francophile, tambourine player, Shakespearean actor, jeweller, pacifist, correspondent with Stephen Hawking and Ringo.

The story follows the young boy as he tries to find that lock that goes with a key owned by his father, who died in 9/11.

We haven't seen Bullock on the big screen since her Best Actress Oscar win earlier in the year for The Blind Side, although she has been linked to projects such as One of the Guys and Jingle.

Tom Hanks has enjoyed huge box office this summer as he returned to voicing the character of Woody in Toy Story 3D but he has also served as executive producer on Big Love and The Pacific.

But he has stepped behind the camera for his new project Larry Crowne, in which he also stars, which sees him reunite with Julia Roberts.
