Sandra Bullock proved she is at the top of her game this weekend when her hit comedy The Proposal opened to UK audiences and became her biggest UK opening ever with a box office taking of £3,233,422.
Smart new comedy ‘The Proposal’ has wowed audiences internationally and broken box office records for Ms Bullock.
The film starring Bullock, last seen on the big screen back in 2007, and rising star Ryan Reynolds opened in the US last month at the #1 spot and has gone on to take $140.086 at the US box office making it her most successful release to date and beating previous topper Speed.
As one of Hollywood’s most successful female stars, Bullock has a string of number one hit movies behind her, but it is her latest screwball comedy, The Proposal, that guarantees her position as leading talent at the International box office, with her biggest movie release ever.
Bullock’s co-star Ryan Reynolds is also enjoying the spotlight as this summer’s hot new male lead with films such as Wolverine and Adventureland (Sept 11th) under his belt.
The Proposal opened in the UK with a box office total of £3,233,422 making it her biggest UK opening ever and beating previous record holder ‘Two Weeks Notice’ (£2.6) by a stellar 25%, and on par with The Devil Wears Prada.
In the US The Proposal is Sandra Bullock’s most successful film to date taking more than Speed ($121,248,145), A Time to Kill ($108,706,165) and the smash comedy Miss Congeniality ($106,807,667).
