The release date of the highly anticipated new Star Trek movie has been pushed back to summer 2009.The film was due to be released on Boxing Day of this year but Paramount Pictures have opted instead for a summer release.The movie, which is yet to be named, is still expected to be finished on time as they continued to film throughout the strike without their screenwriters.The studio believe that the film is in the league of the summer blockbusters like Transformers and Pirates of the Caribbean both of which did well from a release at this time of year. Michael Vollman, a spokesman for the studio, said, ‘Star Trek is in fantastic shape. This is all about box-office potential.’Star Trek is directed by Lost creator and man behind Cloverfield JJ Abrams and will look at the early years of the crew aboard the Enterprise.Unknown actor Chris Pine and Heroes regular Zachary Quinto have landed the roles of Captain Kirk and Spock.FemaleFirst Helen Earnshaw
