Star Trek's writers have revealed that they are already putting ideas in place for a sequel.

Filmmaker J.J Abrams had hinted that there would possibly be a sequel if this movie did well at the box office, and the end of the film is perfectly poised for a second movie.

But in an interview with MTV writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman said that they were already considering some storylines.

Orci said: "We wanted to see what fans think of the first one; let's see what works, and what people think is the best in what we've done.

"And then we can take that into account when we think about the next movie. I don't think we ever need to talk about time travel again."

Kurtzman added: "Now we're in this new world. And we're just gonna have to live through the unpredictable future."

The film has topped the box office in both America and the UK and has so far grossed $122 million at the global box office, however this is slightly down on predictions.

Despite rave reviews the film has struggled outside of America and is yet to make back it's $150 million budget.
