The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is to premiere in Wellington, New Zealand it has been announced.

The movie marks Peter Jackson's return to Middle Earth as he has adapted The Hobbit for the big screen, the movie will be split into two parts.

One again filmed in and around New Zealand the country has been rewarded for it's support.

Speaking to journalist Jackson said: "No-one I don't think in the international industry could quite believe how the country got behind that moment.

"I think everyone involved is quite honestly keen to let New Zealand have the premiere of the first Hobbit movie."

Martin Freeman will lead the cast as Bilbo Baggins with Luke Evans, Evangaline Lily and Richard Armitage on the cast list.

There will also be some familiar faces on the cast list as Orlando Bloom, Hugo Weaving, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis and Ian McKellan will all be reprising their role from The Lord of the Rings.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is released 14th December.
