The Proposal

The Proposal

Sandra Bullock continues to entertain audiences as her number one  hit passes the $100m mark at the U.S. box-office and proves it’s comedy that audiences really want this summer.

The Proposal released in the US on the 19th June and coming to the UK on 22nd July, opened at the #1 spot making it the biggest US opening ever for a Sandra Bullock film, taking more on its opening weekend then Speed ($14,456,194), A Time to Kill ($14,823,159) and the smash comedy Miss Congeniality ($13,853,159).

The film starring Bullock, who was last seen on the big screen back in 2007 and rising star Ryan Reynolds proves she’s still got what it takes as the smart new comedy is currently tracking to become her biggest film ever in the U.S.

Bullock’s co-star Ryan Reynolds is also enjoying the spotlight as this summer’s hot new male lead with films such as Wolverine and Adventureland.

The Proposal offers some much needed comedy within a holiday season awash with action and adventure films and is enjoying great audience word of mouth.  Due to hit the UK on Wednesday July 22nd The Proposal looks set to be a summer sell out.

When high-powered book editor Margaret (Bullock) faces deportation to her native Canada, the quick-thinking exec declares that she’s actually engaged to her unsuspecting put-upon assistant Andrew (Reynolds), who she’s tormented for years. He agrees to participate in the charade, but with a few conditions of his own.

The unlikely couple heads to Alaska to meet his quirky family and the always-in-control city girl finds herself in one comedic fish-out-of-water situation after another.

With an impromptu wedding in the works and an immigration official on their tails, Margaret and Andrew reluctantly vow to stick to the plan despite the precarious consequences.
