Uma Thurman

Uma Thurman is contemplating a cross-country move to Hollywood - because she fears her devotion to her family life in New York could take its toll on her career.

The Kill Bill star has only taken on projects which have been filmed in the Big Apple since giving birth to daughter Maya in 1998 and son Levon in 2002, so she could remain close to her two kids with ex-husband Ethan Hawke.

But now the children are older, Thurman, 39, is determined to raise her profile as an actress - and is considering relocating to the West Coast.

She tells W magazine, "I am a mother, but I need to do what I'm good at doing. Even your kids need you to be who you are.

"I've been living at home for a long time. If I don't leave soon, I'm going to literally choke my career to death."

Thurman and Hawke divorced in 2004.
