Aaron Taylor-Johnson is being courted for a role in 'The Avengers 2'.

The 'Kick-Ass' actor is reportedly wanted for the role of Quicksilver in Joss Whedon's follow-up to the 2012 superhero blockbuster, according to Deadline.

Whedon previously revealed his intentions to include Quicksilver, known for his superhuman speed, and his twin sister Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Studios flick, which is expected to reunite Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth's Thor, Chris Evans' Captain America and Mark Ruffalo's Hulk in a new world-saving adventure.

Meanwhile, rival studio Fox is also set to utilise the character in its forthcoming 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' movie directed by Bryan Singer.

The filmmaker announced last month that 'American Horror Story' actor Evan Peters - who ironically had a role opposite Taylor-Johnson in 2010's 'Kick-Ass' - will play the speedy mutant in his 2014 film.

In Marvel comic book lore, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are the children of 'X-Men' villain Magneto, to be played by Sir Ian McKellen and Michael Fassbender in 'Days of Future Past'.

'The Host' actress Saoirse Ronan is rumoured to be the hot favourite to play Taylor-Johnson's twin sister in the 'Avengers' sequel and previously expressed interest in the role.

Taylor-Johnson is set to reprise his role as wannabe hero Kick-Ass in 'Kick-Ass 2' later this year.
