This past week has been full of exciting movie news, from set photos of Kraven the Hunter, to the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons feature getting an official title. Read about all this, and more, below!

Set photos show Aaron Taylor-Johnson filming Kraven the Hunter

Recent set photos from Sony’s upcoming movie, Kraven the Hunter, see lead actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson filming an action scene in London.

The feature will be set within Sony’s Spider-Man cinematic universe, which is a separate affair than the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Taylor-Johnson will be playing the titular villain in the forthcoming film.

The photos, posted on Twitter, show the actor both walking in what seems like either civilian or army attire, along with another picture that sees him running with ‘barefoot’ shoes, which serve to make the actor look like he has no footwear on, but also protects his feet during filming.

Taylor-Johnson has taken on comic roles before, in both Kick-Ass as the titular character, and Quicksilver in Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. Will he return to the MCU as a totally different character, given that the Multiverse is official?

Will Smith film, Bright 2, is cancelled by Netflix

Will Smith has been a topic of discussion a lot the past few weeks, but perhaps for the wrong reasons. Now, news comes that a sequel he was set to star in, Bright 2, has been cancelled by Netflix.

Bright released in 2017, and did rather well with viewers as the feature gained a score of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes. Due to audiences seeming to really enjoy the film, naturally a sequel wasn’t too far away.

However, a tweet from Bloomberg reporter Lucas Shaw revealed that Netflix has “abandoned” any plans they had of making Bright 2. While many may assume this news has to do with the incident at the Oscars, that would apparently not be the case.

Shaw’s tweet mentions the infamous Oscars slap, but claims that it has nothing to do with Netflix pulling the plug. The real reason is still unknown, but could be to do with the huge loss in stock value and subscribers that the streaming platform has seen.

Bird Box 2 update given by original director

Director of 2018’s Bird Box, Susanne Bier, has recently offered up an update in regard to Bird Box 2, saying she is excited but unsure of when production will begin.

Bid Box was a hit on Netflix in 2018, with Sandra Bullock in the main role as a pregnant woman who must navigate the world that is falling into chaos around her. It seems that Bier is ready to make a follow-up feature, but isn’t sure how it will get off the ground.

There haven’t been many updates on the sequel, bar talks of a Spanish-language spinoff, which would see how the global disaster affected another part of the world.

If a sequel does happen, it will be interesting to see how it plays out; Bullock could return and we could see her and her kids surviving, or we could see another family entirely.

Dungeons & Dragons feature gets official title

Paramount Pictures has officially revealed the title of the long-waited Dungeons & Dragons film, which stars Chris Pine and Michelle Rodriguez.

The official title for the forthcoming feature is Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, and is set to release on March 3rd, 2023. The film has been in development for around seven years now, with production beginning in 2015.

However, behind-the-scenes changes meant the movie was repeatedly delayed. There isn’t much information surrounding the film, such as a plot and, until now, a title, as things are being kept tightly under wraps.

Paramount should be revealing more information about the project very soon.

Sony’s Madame Web film gets 2023 release date

Marvel has so many projects going on, that’s it’s almost impossible to keep up! One project that has a few people talking, is Madame Web starring Dakota Johnson (50 Shades franchise).

The upcoming movie has recently been given a release date of July 7th, 2023. The film will be, like Kraven the Hunter, part of the Sony Spider-Man Universe, which also includes both Venom titles, and Morbius

While not too much is known about the project at this time, Madame Web is a character who, within the comics, has connections to the Multiverse, which makes her a great character for Sony to use in their plans to build out their franchise.
