We are big fans of Bryan Cranston here at FemaleFirst and the actor is set to return to the big screen in the new year in the highly anticipated Trumbo.

Bryan Cranston

Bryan Cranston

Cranston is set to take on the central role of Hollywood screenwriter, Dalton Trumbo, whose career comes to an end when he is blacklisted for being a Communist in the 1940s.

Directed by Jay Roach and written by John McNamara, this biopic/drama follows Trumbo as he battles to keep his career alive.

We still have a little wait until Trumbo finally hits the big screen but the brand new trailer for the film has arrived and we have it for you to take a look at:

Roach has brought us movies such as Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery and Meet The Parents during his career, but Trumbo will be his first feature since The Campaign back in 2012.

The director has brought together an impressive cast as Cranston is joined by Helen Mirren, Diane Lane, Elle Fanning, Alan Tudyk, and John Goodman.

The successful career of 1940s screenwriter Dalton Trumbo (Cranston) comes to a crushing end when he and other Hollywood figures are blacklisted for their political beliefs.

Trumbo tells the story of his fight against the U.S. government and studio bosses in a war over words and freedom, which entangled everyone in Hollywood from Hedda Hopper (Mirren) and John Wayne to Kirk Douglas and Otto Preminger.

Trumbo premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it received a five minute standing ovation, and will screen as part of the BFI London Film Festival, which gets underway today.

We all know how much the Academy loves a biopic performance and we could well see Cranston in the Oscar race for his central role.

Trumbo is released 5th February.
