Civil War is set to be the biggest Marvel film to hit the big screen next year as Captain America returns for his third solo film, which will come two years after the huge success of The Winter Solider back in 2014.

And while the Civil War comic book story is a little complicated, Feige reveals that scriptwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus have simplified the story somewhat.

Speaking to Zap2it, Feige said: "'Civil War' is a relatively simple story. ['Avengers: Age of Ultron'] had a lot going on. Civil War' is a surprisingly grounded story about two characters that most audience members have come to know and like and admire finding themselves on different sides of a political argument, like the country does on many occasions, and how they both respond to that.

"That's the story. So it's actually a very, very simple story, and then how their personal relationships fit into that."

Civil War is kick off Marvel's Phase III of movies in style next year as Anthony and Joe Russo return to the director's chair for their second Captain America film. The duo steered The Winter Solider to critical and commercial success last year and will go on to direct both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.

Civil War will see Chris Evans return to the title role for the first time since the success of Avengers: Age of Ultron earlier this year - however, there is a little Captain America teaser at the end of the Ant-Man credits.

The likes of Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie will be returning to the Captain America franchise to reprise their roles of Black Widow and Falcon, while Robert Downey Jr is a big new name on the cast list as he returns as Iron Man.

We are also going to see Elizabeth Olsen, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, and Paul Rudd step into the Captain America franchise for the first time, while Martin Freeman and Daniel Bruhl are set to play some brand new characters.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April 2016.
