Captain America: Civil War

Civil War is the third solo Captain America film and one of the most anticipated movies of 2016 so far.

Not only does it kick off Phase 3 of Marvel films, but it is based on the iconic Civil War story arc of the comics, which sees Captain America and Iron Man going head to head on opposing sides.

Fans outside the U.S. got to see the movie for the first time over the weekend and it has been storming box offices - taking over $200 million in the opening weekend.

U.S. fans are going to have to wait until the end of the week until the film opens... where it looks set to be a massive smash.

Civil War has taken £14.03 million in the UK alone and it the #1 film this weekend. The movie has been winning over critics and audiences is already well on course to out-perform Captain America: The First Avenger.

The movie sees Anthony and Joe Russo back in the director's chair for their second consecutive Captain America film - they steered The Winter Solider to both critical and commercial success two years ago.

The directing brothers are now going to move on to Avengers: Infinity War - taking over the helm from Joss Whedon on the franchise for the first time.

Could Captain America: Civil War could be the first in this series to gross over $1 billion at the global box office? I guess we are going to have to wait and see. It would be only the second solo film to do so - the first being Iron Man 3 in 2013.

The movie has brought together an impressive cast as Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Paul Bettany, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Martin Freeman, Chadwick Boseman, and Tom Holland are just some of the names that are on board.

Captain America: Civil War is out now.
