Cate Blanchett thinks you'd have to be a "moron" not to want to work with Meryl Streep and Carey Mulligan.

Blanchett thinks it's outrageous that some actors turned down the opportunity to star in 'Suffragette,' which stars the two beauties as the leads, because they weren't happy with the size of the roles on offer for them.

Speaking to website Digital Spy, Cate said: "I think there's a sense that for a man to support a woman, he's somehow being emasculated - which is ridiculous!

"I think women far more feel like they want to be part of something and I think the way men get talked to by their representatives, it means they miss out on a lot of great experiences. I mean, who would not want to work with Carey Mulligan and Meryl Streep? You'd have to be a moron!"

Cate's comments come after screenwriter Abi Morgan, who penned the historical period drama, revealed at the London Film Festival last month that some men refused to join the cast because they weren't happy with the size of the parts.

She said at the time: "When we came to cast the film it was very difficult because we kept getting calls from agents saying the parts weren't big enough for the men."
