Celine Dion felt like she was "cheating on" the original 'Beauty and the Beast' film when she agreed to sing a song for the upcoming live-action movie.

The 48-year-old singer has recorded 'How Does a Moment Last Forever' for the new version of the classic tale, and while it was a "privilege" to be asked to appear on the soundtrack, she was initially apprehensive about taking on the track because of the success of the titular duet she recorded with Peabo Bryson for the 1991 animation.

She said: "30 year later, they [came] back to me.

"I saw the [new] movie, it's great, but there was something inside of me that was shaking a little bit.

"They say, 'So what do you think? Would you consider singing this new 'Beauty and the Beast' song, 30 years later?' and I'm like, 'Uh, I have to listen to it again, because I need to be professional.'

"To be honest with you, I said to them, 'That is so hard for me to commit [to] right now, because I felt like [I was] cheating [on] the first 'Beauty and the Beast'. "

But after much deliberation, Celine eventually decided to go ahead with the project after "kind of" speaking to her late husband and manager Rene Angelil - who died of throat cancer in January 2016 - and feeling he would have wanted her to do it.

She told 'Entertainment Tonight': "I understood it was an amazing privilege again.

"'Beauty and the Beast' had brought me to where I am today. I went back home, I listened to it... I kind of talked to Rene, and he said, 'You should.'"

And the 'Think Twice' hitmaker is very impressed by Ariana Grande and John Legend's version of 'Beauty and the Beast' for the new soundtrack.

She said: "I can't refuse that. I'm so proud."
