Peter Mullan is one of the best British actors around and he is set to return this December with new film Hector.

Mullan is set to take on the central role of Hector McAdam in the new drama as he teams up with filmmaker Jake Gavin for the first time.

Gavin will make his feature film directorial debut with Hector and has penned the screenplay as well as being in the director's chair.

Mullan has delivered some terrific performances in the likes of Sunshine on Leith, War Horse and Tyrannosaur in recent years and you can see him in action in this brand new trailer:

However, it is not all about Mullan as Keith Allen, Gina Mckee, Stephen Tompkinson & Sarah Solemani join him on the cast list.

Hector McAdam is embarking on his annual journey from Scotland to a London shelter, where Christmas cheer and a turkey dinner await him. But, aware this might be his last, Hector opts to reconnect with his past and reunite with those he left behind.

Life without a home isn't easy but Hector is resilient, accepting of people, and life, as they come. He meets with friendship and kindness, disappointment and cruelty, discomfort and joy. His cross-country odyssey brings chance encounters, companions old and new who need his support as much as he needs theirs.

We have got some blockbusters and festive films on the horizon over the next month or so and Hector looks set to be a welcome breath of fresh air.

Hector is released 11th December
