The 33-year-old star and Spanish actress, 40, wed in 2010 and have embarked on their first ever movie project together playing a husband and wife who are separated by war.

Speaking about working with his spouse for the first time, the Australian hunk said: "It is great. Very little prep time needed to form that chemistry. It's fantastic."

The film was shot in New Mexico in the US and movie bosses specially requested Pataky join Hemsworth for the project, which became like a "working holiday" for them and their four-year-old daughter India and two-year-old twins Sasha and Tristan.

The actor explained: "(It's like a) working holiday. They said, 'Look, we are big fans of your wife, and we would love it if she came and played your wife in this,' and I said, 'Great!'"

'Horse Soldiers' is based on Doug Stanton's non-fiction book of the same name and tells the story of a group of US. Special Forces sent to Afghanistan to fight against the Taliban after the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York on September 11, 2001.

Horses were the troops' main mode of transportation and the 'Thor' star was relieved he had ridden a horse in his previous movies and was given thorough weapons training.

He told 'Entertainment Tonight' Online: "We did a little horse shooting in the first 'Thor'. I also had the best horse, Carly. I would tell them it was my horsemanship and my skill, but it was not that. It was a lot of weapons training, a lot of movement training. It was great, because you can't really fake this stuff."
