Hemsworth will reprise the role of Thor later this year, for the first time since the huge success of Thor: The Dark World back in 2013, as he reunites with writer and director Joss Whedon.

And the actor hints that everything has been 'amplified' in this movie, and yet it has been don in an 'intelligent way.'

Speaking to Collider during a group interview on set, the actor said: "It was awesome. I mean, coming off of Thor 2 and Avengers, you know, I couldn't wait to read this. I just loved how it upped it in a way that wasn't just bigger and flashier. I mean, everything had been amplified, but in an intelligent way.

"All the stories are relevant to what's going on in the world, as far as the exponential growth of technology and artificial intelligence and the questions of good versus bad and the AI world.

"They're obviously heavily influenced by that tone and that debate. He's managed to bring all of the Avengers back in and give them a relevant reason to be there and justified sort of conflict. I mean, it's a tricky balance. I'm glad I'm not the one writing the thing and having to pull that off."

Age of Ultron is the first of two Marvel films to hit the big screen in 2015, and comes hot off the heels of the success of Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014 - they went on to be two of the most successful films of last year.

And events of Age of Ultron is due to set up events in future movies, with Captain America: Civil War and Thor: Ragnarok already scheduled for 2016 and 2017.

As for Hemsworth, we have already seen him in Blackhat this year, but he has also completed work on In The Heart of the Sea, and Vacation. The former will see him reunite with director Ron Howard for the first time since the success of Rush.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released 23rd April.
