There have been a few names batted around as to who is going to take on this character, but The Daily Mail columnist Baz Bamigboye has reported that Waltz is on board.

Bamigboye took to Twitter to break the news writing: "#CHRISTOPHWALTZ SIGNS ON FOR BOND24.Shoots early December Mexico, Morocco, Austria, Italy & London,"

Waltz is no stranger to playing the villain, having picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his performance in Inglourious Basterds - the movie that really put him on the map.

It is still unclear as to whether Waltz will indeed play the villain in the highly anticipated film, or if he will take on some other character.

Chiwetel Ejiofor has long been linked to play Bond's nemesis this time around, but that casting has never been confirmed or denied and his participation in the film is still unknown.

Daniel Craig will reprise the role of 007 in the film, while Sam Mendes is back in the director's chair for his second Bond movie.

Ben Whishaw, Ralph Fiennes, and Naomie Harris are all expected to return to the franchise, while Penelope Cruz and Léa Seydoux are just two of the actresses that have been linked to the franchise in recent months.

As for Waltz, he will return to the big screen at the end of the month with Horrible Bosses 2 and has also completed work on Big Eye and Tulip Fever. He is currently working on Tarzan.

Bond 24 is released 23rd October 2015.
