Guillermo Del Toro is one of the most exciting filmmakers in Hollywood, and he is set to return to the director's chair this October with new gothic horror movie Crimson Peak.

Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak is the first directorial outing for De Toro since Pacific Rim as he returns to the horror genre. This is a movie that I have been looking forward to for some time, and the brand new trailer for the film has arrived.

Sadly, we are going to have to wait until October to see the film hit the big screen, but this trailer promises that it is going to be a tense and creepy ride - check it out:

Crimson Peak sees Tom Hiddleston and Mia Wasikowska team up with Del Toro for the first time. The movie sees him reunite with Jessica Chastain - who starred in the Del Toro produced Mama - and Charlie Hunnam - who starred in Pacific Rim. Burn Gorman and Doug Jones are also on the cast list.

In the aftermath of a family tragedy, an aspiring author is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider.

Trying to escape the ghosts of her past, she is swept away to a house that breathes, bleeds... and remembers.

Del Toro has directed or produced some of the best gothic horrors in recent years - The Devil's Backbone and The Orphanage are the two that really spring to mind - and I can't wait to see him return to this genre once again. Not to mention, the cast that he has brought together is exciting and super talented.

Crimson Peak really is promising to be a 2015 horror movie that will not disappoint.

Crimson Peak is released 16th October.
