Dad's Army

Dad's Army is set to be one of the first British movies of 2016 that cannot be missed as a cast of wonderful new actors take over from the likes of Arthur Lowe and Clive Dunn.

And a brand new image has the central cast all together - I really cannot wait to see them in action. L-R: Toby Jones as Captain Mainwaring, Bill Nighy as Wilson, Tom Courtenay as Corporal Jones, Bill Paterson as Fraser, Michael Gambon as Godfrey, Blake Harrison as Pike and Danny Mays as Walker.

The cast really is a who's who of British talent as Jones, Nighy, Courtenay, Paterson, Gambon, Harrison, and Mays are joined by Catherine Zeta Jones, Sarah Lancashire, Alison Steadman, Mark Gatiss, and Annette Crosbie.

The movie marks the return of Oliver Parker to the director's chair for the first time since Johnny English Reborn back in 2011. Parker has the tricky task of putting his own stamp on the story while remaining faithful to the much-loved original series and characters.

It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low. Their new mission then - to patrol the Dover army base - is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert.

MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There's a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.

Dad's Army is released 5th February 2016.
