Images hit the internet last week on the set in Toronto of Jared Leto as the Joker, Batman in a chase scene and Margot Robbie in costume as Harley Quinn. And while the images did answer the burning question as to whether we are going to see Batman make an appearance in the movie - it did sort of ruin the surprise.

However, Ayer has taken to Twitter to assure fans that everything is fine and there is plenty to look forward to when the movie hits the big screen next summer - it is already one of the most anticipated films of 2016.

Ayer tweeted to fans: "Well we survived the streets. Time to go dark now. Remember, only the tiniest glimpse has been exposed. Our surprises are intact."

Suicide Squad is the first film for Ayer since Fury and will be the first time that he has tackled a comic book project. Suicide Squad is just one of a handful of DC Comic film projects that are on the horizon for

Warner Bros and will follow Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice - Wonder Woman and Aquaman solo movies are also in the pipeline.

The movie will follow a group of supervillains who are recruited by a secret government agency to undertake some dangerous black op missions in return for redemption.

Will Smith will lead the cast as Deadshot, while Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne, Jared Leto, Jai Courtney and Joel Kinnaman are on board as Harley Quinn, Enchantress, The Joker, Captain Boomerang, and Rick Flagg.

There has been much talk as to whether Batman would be another character that would be joining the film - Ben Affleck is set to make his debut as Bruce Wayne in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice next year. He has been linked to Suicide Squad for some time and will also play a major role in the upcoming Justice League movies that are also on the horizon.

As for Suicide Squad, filming is well under way but we are going to have to wait over a year before we see the movie hit the big screen.

Suicide Squad is released 5th August 2016.
