So far, Deadpool has grossed $311.2 million in the U.S. alone and is now only behind The Passion of the Christ and America Sniper in terms of success for the R-Rated film.

Deadpool has grossed over $673 million at the global box office and is well on course to be one of the biggest R-Rated films of all time. Needless to say, it is currently the highest grossing film of 2016 so far.

The film has been met with critical and well as commercial success and is now the comic book movie to beat in a year that we see us treated to quite a few films from this genre.

The film has relinquished it's hold on the number one spot in the U.S. this weekend, toppled by Disney film Zootropolis, but the film continues to perform well around the world.

The movie sees Ryan Reynolds take on the central role of Wade Wilson and it seems that a sequel is already in the pipeline - given the success of the first film, a sequel is now a certainty.

As well as a sequel, Reynolds has also expressed his interest in starring in an X-Force film at some point in the future.

Deadpool is the latest success in the X-Men franchise and is closing in on the global total of $747.9 million posted by X-Men: Days of Future past back in 2014.

However, Deadpool will be competition with X-Men: Apocalypse later this year as the latest X-Men film will look to surpass the totals posted by this latest film.

Deadpool is still in UK cinemas.
