Dunkirk is set to be one of the biggest movie events of 2017 as Christopher Nolan returns to the director's chair.

Dunkirk

Dunkirk

Not only is Dunkirk the first feature film for the filmmaker since the success of Interstellar, but it is also the first time that Nolan has tackled the war genre.

As well as being back in the director's chair, Nolan has also penned the film's screenplay. It is always exciting when a Christopher Nolan film is on the horizon... and Dunkirk is promising to be another that's not to be missed.

A teaser trailer has been released showing the first footage from the film, and we have it for you to take a look at:

Dunkirk sees Nolan reunite with actor Tom Hardy for their second film project together; they work on The Dark Knight Rises back in 2012.

Hardy will take on the film's central role and is joined on the cast list by Cillian Murphy - who Nolan has also worked with before - Mark Rylance, Kenneth Branagh, Harry Styles, James D'Arcy, and Aneurin Barnard.

Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.

I know that we haven't been treated to too much footage from Dunkirk, but is it always promising to be a very powerful and rather epic watch. I can't wait to see what Nolan delivers when the film hits the big screen next summer.

Dunkirk is released July 21st 2017.
