Jem and the Holograms is already one of the most talked about films of this year, as the 1980 animated series is set to be adapted for the big screen.

Jon M. Chu is set to return to the director's chair for the film, and now the cast has been revealed.

Aubrey Peeples will play Jem, Stefanie Scott will play Kimber, Hayley Kiyoko is on board as Aja, and Aurora Perrineau is Shana.

Chu has been behind movies such as Step Up 2: The Street and G.I. Joe Retaliation: this will be his first film since the G.I. Joe sequel.

Filming is currently underway on the film, and has been adapted for the big screen by Ryan Landels.

This first glimpse of the four actresses was released on the film's official website.

Jem and the Holograms was a TV series that ran from 1985 to 1988 and follows Jem and her band.

No official release date has been announced for the film.
