Fury

Fury

Fury has seen off the challenge from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to secure the top spot at the UK box office.

Fury marks the return of Brad Pitt to a leading role as he teams up with director David Ayer for the first time.

The Second World War movie - which follows a tank crew fighting behind enemy lines - took £2.6 million to take the #1 spot. The movie has already been top of the box office in the U.S.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles slipped just a single place to two, after just a week as the UK's #1 movie.

However, it did take a further £1.9 million over the weekend and has now taken $392 million at the global box office so far - I imagine that a sequel is already being planned after this success.

Gone Girl was down one spot at three this week, while new entry The Book of Life and The Maze Runner completed the top five.

Annabelle fell out of the top five this weekend as the horror films slipped three places from three to six - making it the biggest faller on the chart.

It was a great week for new entries, as there were six inside the top ten.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, Happy New Year, Love Rosie and The Babadook were all new at seven, eight nine, and ten.

Love, Rosie is an adaptation of Where Rainbows End by Cecelia Ahern, and is the second of her novels to be adapted for the big screen.

Despite starring Lily Collins and Sam Claflin, Love Rosie only managed to gross £482,535 in its opening weekend.

The Babadook is a horror movie that has been winning over the critics in recent weeks, and it rounded off the top ten.
